About Dogmarket.ie

An Irish marketplace and editorial home for puppies, dogs, and the people who care for them.

What Dogmarket.ie does

Dogmarket.ie is an Irish online marketplace that connects buyers with breeders, sellers, and dog professionals across Ireland and Northern Ireland. Buyers can browse puppies for sale, find a stud dog, search for vets, groomers, trainers, boarding facilities, and pet shops, and read advice from experienced owners. Sellers and service providers can list their dogs and services to a focused Irish audience.

Alongside the marketplace, we publish an ongoing library of practical, owner-focused articles on health, training, nutrition, grooming, breed selection, adoption, lifestyle, gear, and Irish dog law. Every article is written for real owner questions — “why is my dog limping?”, “how do I stop pulling on the lead?”, “how much does a dog actually cost per year in Ireland?” — and reviewed for plain-English clarity and vet-cautious advice before publishing.

How the platform works

Dogmarket.ie has three sides that fit together:

  • For buyers: a searchable directory of dogs for sale, breeders, and dog services, with filters for breed, county, age, and price. Listings show the seller’s location and contact options, and you can save favourites and message sellers from a free account.
  • For sellers and service providers: a self-service tool to publish puppy, stud, or service listings, with optional paid features (highlighted placement, featured listings, monthly or yearly subscriptions for stud and service categories). All payments are handled by Stripe — we do not store card data on our own systems.
  • For everyone: articles, breed guides, and an FAQ to help newcomers learn before they buy. We believe a better-informed buyer makes a better-informed seller, and that more research up front leads to fewer dogs in rescue later.

Our mission

We believe most dog problems in Ireland start with information that is missing, scattered, or written for a different country. Our mission is to put trustworthy, country-specific advice next to trustworthy, country-specific listings — so that finding a dog in Ireland feels less like trawling classified ads and more like getting a second opinion from someone who has been around dogs for a long time.

Concretely, that means:

  • Helping responsible breeders stand out, not get drowned by spam ads.
  • Making it easy for buyers to ask the right questions before paying a deposit (parents seen, microchipped, vaccinated, IKC paperwork where relevant).
  • Writing every article in plain English, with a real bias toward “and ring your vet if…” rather than internet-doctor speculation.
  • Treating Irish dog law (microchipping, dog licences, breeding-establishment rules, restricted breeds, travel within the EU) as a first-class topic, not an afterthought.

Trust and safety

Buying a dog online has real risks. We try to reduce them with a few non-negotiables:

  • Account verification: sellers must verify their email, and we ask for additional identity checks before paid features unlock.
  • Listing review: our moderation team reviews new and reported listings against our listing guidelines. Listings that mislead buyers, hide health issues, or breach Irish breeding-establishment rules are removed.
  • Reporting: any visitor can report a listing, profile, or message. We follow up on reports within one working day and act on confirmed breaches.
  • No payments through chat: we strongly discourage paying for a dog through private messages or transfers. See our safety tips for the full list of red flags.

Who runs Dogmarket.ie

Dogmarket.ie is run by a small Irish-based team of dog owners, software engineers, and writers. Articles are commissioned, edited, and reviewed in-house — we do not accept paid sponsorships in editorial content, and we mark advertising clearly when it appears.

We are based in Ireland and operate the platform under Irish and EU law. For company-related enquiries (press, partnerships, advertising), please reach out via the contact page.

What we stand for

Responsible breeding first. We highlight IKC-registered and licensed breeders and we refuse listings that hide health screening or parent dogs.

Plain-English advice. Articles are written for owners, not search engines, and every health topic ends with “and ring your vet if…”.

Irish-context content. We focus on Irish dog law, Irish weather, and the breeds and services actually available in Ireland.
